I wasn’t feeling well at all yesterday, and while that is not too great of an excuse not to write, I still didn’t. So today I must do two. (I’ll do them separately, however.)
WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?
Gosh…I really sometimes just do not like this question. I mean, in what atmosphere are we talking about inspiration? I have different means of being/getting inspired.
When it comes to my family, my mother-in-law inspires me. I was around her the most when I was newly married. We actually lived with my in-laws so it was hard not to be around them. Sharon (rest in peace) had the most beautiful spirit. She never had an unkind word on her tongue. She was almost always in control of her emotions. She led her family with a servant’s heart. She rose early in the morning and prepared food for everyone. She tended to her home without complaint. And she never, ever missed her hour of prayer with the Lord. (It was always at 5pm, right after her favorite soap opera. LOL) Why did, does she inspire me? She taught me by showing and by leading and by guiding me. She helped me to be the right kind of woman, a Godly wife and mother. It was in everything she did and said that I learned how I should present myself to my family, to others, and to the Lord. I was so very blessed to have her in my life.
When it comes to creative inspiration I turn to Chuck Wendig’s creativity. His blog, http://www.terribleminds.com for sound advice
and inspiration. His Miriam Black series was the first I’d ever encountered of him. It took me a long time to figure out what it was, about him, that inspired me so much. But after talking with a dear friend, Julie, late one evening on Facebook, that I learned what it was. Chuck’s ability to not give a damn about pleasing others when he writes is amazing; awesome, and totally inspiring. He writes to please himself first. He writes FOR himself first and foremost. It is that lesson alone that I constantly strive to bear in mind for myself. Have fun while writing. If I am having fun, then my readers will most likely have fun. If I find myself grumbling through something, then my readers will likely do the same. I love that he invites other writers onto his site to help teach. It isn’t all about him. Yes, he may still be writing everything for himself, but he remembers those lessons that he has learned and aims to help others.
My husband inspires me when it comes to believing in myself. When I was going through difficult times, he was always there for me. He always told me to keep looking forward. When I was struggling through difficult graduate courses because I kept seeing the school years in its entirety and I kept fighting against it all. It was him that reminded me to look at it as one small course at a time. And inside each course, one week at a time, and then one assignment at a time. He is always there for me, reminding me of the greatness I’ve done and the greatness I can do. To him, I am his hero, but he’s really the hero because without him by my side I would totally crumble beneath the weight of my own chaos.
Cheers,
