So, Camp NaNoWriMo is about to begin. As if starting a new job, moving to a new city, and having to change and embrace just about everything going on, I’m about to embark on a new writing project. Yowza!!!
I know. I’m crazy. I can’t help myself, though. I just sat down, during my first period class, and discovered this story sitting within the walls of my mind.
So here is the idea I’m playing with. It’s called What the Hand Draws
Sara McLain is ensnared by her chaotic life. An upsetting past haunts her every time she looks in the mirror, and she can’t escape the violent relationship she is currently in. More and more, her thoughts turn to Jamal Emerson, an artist she met her first year of college. Everybody thought him weird, standoffish, and a freak. A boy who could tell see things, through his art, that no one else could see. The first semester, Sara found perfect solace in Jamar’s presence, spending days and nights in his company, anywhere he found inspiration for art. With him, Sara developed a trusting connection she’d never had before, and she experienced peace and happiness for once. Painful circumstances tore them apart, and now, seven years later, Sara clings to the memory of her brief friendship to help her survive day by day. Still, she has to remind herself that he’s not coming back. Until one day…he does.
Guided by Jamar’s strange abilities to create art that inspires change, Sara is forced to face her current monsters and past nightmares. When Sara begins to suspect there is something different about Jamar, she starts looking deeper into who her friend really is. Sara must fight to save herself from her past, her present, and now…her future.
Sounds like an interesting novel. Good luck! 🙂
