I’d only just found peace. It creaked into my life, like an old man with a cane. Still, at least it arrived. I’d finally shut down the inner eye, calmed the visions, the voices. I could breathe a sigh of relief. Until i couldn’t. He stole the memories within me, and now being used against me. Taunting me, pressuring me back into the madness. What choices does one have when all choices are ripped away? Now I look down the barrel of a gun if I go one way and walk off a cliff if I go the others.

He tells me it’s time I pay my dues. The burden heavy, the debt too big. I think I’ll never be able to, but I must. To save Him. I will. I left the bag on the porch, at the door. Who knows what lies behind it. Within the bag is dirt, mud, dust. The first two buried the last once upon a time. How is it he can play god, raise life from that dust? Does it even matter?

A New Year, a New NaNoWriMo!

nanowrimoAll this week I have been sweating bullets, racking my brain, trying to find a story idea for NaNoWriMo. Last year I got an idea just a few days before November 1st. The year before that, I dreamed something that led me to a solid story idea just four days before November 1st. And the year before that I pushed it to October 30th waiting for an idea.

This morning, I woke up from a dream, hoping it would give me something but it was a total dud. Ugh. What was I to do? I’m no longer a fly-by-night pantser who can just write as November speeds along. I HAVE to have some kind of idea. I was freaking out.

So, I decided to go walking. It’s how I got last year’s idea, and it ended up being a good one. I walked up a huge hill (2.2) miles total and ended up coming down with a seriously excellent story. And I had a blast writing it. I didn’t have an ending at the time and by the last week of November I still didn’t know how it would end, but I eventually found it…it just came with the writing. I was pleasantly surprised by it. Continue reading

inspiresI wasn’t feeling well at all yesterday, and while that is not too great of an excuse not to write, I still didn’t. So today I must do two. (I’ll do them separately, however.)

WHO INSPIRES YOU THE MOST?

Gosh…I really sometimes just do not like this question. I mean, in what atmosphere are we talking about inspiration? I have different means of being/getting inspired.

When it comes to my family, my mother-in-law inspires me. I was around her the most when I was newly married. We actually lived with my in-laws so it was hard not to be around them. Sharon (rest in peace) had the most beautiful spirit. She never had an unkind word on her tongue. She was almost always in control of her emotions. She led her family with a servant’s heart. She rose early in the morning and prepared food for everyone. She tended to her home without complaint. And she never, ever missed her hour of prayer with the Lord. (It was always at 5pm, right after her favorite soap opera. LOL) Why did, does she inspire me? She taught me by showing and by leading and by guiding me. She helped me to be the right kind of woman, a Godly wife and mother. It was in everything she did and said that I learned how I should present myself to my family, to others, and to the Lord. I was so very blessed to have her in my life. Continue reading

Time of Death…Wait!

flatlineI have been a bit stranded in regards to my antagonist in my trilogy. Though book one is finished and I felt for the most part it had an extremely strong protagonist, fabulous supporting characters, and a storyline that moved at a good pace, I still couldn’t help feeling a lackluster emotion about my supreme ‘bad guy’. His henchmen, if you could call them that (as they aren’t directly related to the antagonist’s purpose, were great at their assisting roles in the story. And yet, though all these key elements connected and made for an overall good story, I just wasn’t satisfied. Continue reading

Silent Chaos

chaosI’m tired. I want to sleep. First though, I wanted to share some personal thoughts. Last night I did some web browsing during my down time. (Don’t worry, I’m totally allowed to do so.) Of course, I should have been writing; had even made plans with my writing partner to do some story chatting. The work phone kept me busy and being up and down for a good five hours I didn’t even attempt getting into a detailed conversation of such importance. So I decided I would do some mindless, numbing web-surfing. What I got was so completely the opposite. I went to www.brainpickings.com and sifted through a lot of their pages. I soon realized I was leading myself in the direction of reading what other writers were doing or had done. Their daily habits, their writing routines, tips, suggestions, ect. I read probably thirty pages. And those pages led me to probably another twenty or so. Continue reading
